Dr. TuKiet Lam
-
- Bio: Dr. TuKiet Lam (Most refer to him as Tu [pronounced “Too”]) is the Director of the Keck MS & Proteomics Resource at the Yale School of Medicine. He’s been with Yale since 2004. He has his root in high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry under the guidance of his PhD Advisor, the late Alan G. Marshall (co-Inventor of FT-ICR MS) from Florida State University/National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Tu’s graduate work focused on protein applications of high-resolution tandem MS and this is how he founded his passion for applying this specialized analytical tool to as many scientific disciplines as possible to solve real world research/health issues. Through this career endeavor, Tu has spent the past 20+ years cumulating a vast network of investigators, with their specific research area (e.g., Alzheimer, hypertension, lung disease, Parkinson, diabetes, cell differentiation, protein signaling pathways, aging, colon cancer, heart disease, etc.), who rely on his and his staff’s abilities to support their mass spectrometry needs. Tu’s abilities include, but not limited to, directing and administrating a successful and highly utilized Keck MS & Proteomics Resource at Yale School of Medicine, and his high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry expertise and experiences in protein identifications, interactions, profiling, post translational modification, and quantitation analyses qualify. He was recently successful in bringing in the 1st Astral Zoom mass spectrometer to the State of Connecticut to push his Research Core to new heights and expand his supportive research outreach.

- Abstract: The focus of my talk is to cover how our Resource have applied mass spectrometry to support a vast array of biological, chemical, and clinical disciplines through providing examples of accomplished co-authored publications (~50-60%) in these area; as well as some historical context of our Resource and our operational workflows (40%; cost-recovery, biotechnology integration/implementation, staffing, proteomics methodology, business component).
