Safety Precautions
Ethanol is extremely flammable and a dangerous fire risk, it is also toxic by ingestion. Beware of fumes or residual alcohol igniting! Wear flame resistant gloves, a chemical-resistant apron, chemical splash goggles and always follow laboratory safety rules while performing demonstrations.
Preparation
Prepare 50% alcohol- 50% water solution.
Demonstration
Dip dollar bill into solution using tongs, remove after a few seconds and light bill with a lite wood splint. After a few seconds of burning flip the bill with a quick snap of the wrist to put out flame . Show the intact unburned bill.
